Lovett Pies was established in 2011 by friends and pie connoisseurs Phil Roseblade and Chris Parry. The pair met in 2007 when they worked together at the Chequers pub in Bath. It was whilst toiling away in the pub kitchen that they first recognised the high demand for quality handmade pies...
After a couple of years pursuing different careers - Phil continued as a chef in Bath and Chris switched to a job in sales - the pair decided to combine their skills and passion for pie-making, and in 2011 they embarked on a search for suitable premises in which to start baking.
With only a month’s pay (minus rent and bills), it wasn't looking great...until a miraculous meeting with Robert Talbot Cooper, the manager of Ye Olde Farmhouse on Lansdown Road in Bath. Rob very kindly let them use the pub's kitchen (ironically now a health spa) under the proviso that locals be kept fed and happy - and thus Lovett Pies was born. Combining their knowledge and passion for interesting flavours with a commitment to quality, locally-sourced ingredients, the pair began to successfully experiment with different pastries and fillings. Their hard work was finally rewarded at Christmas that year when they completely sold out of pies at their very first Bath Farmers Market.
The rest is history!
